On my first visit, I stayed for 2 days the next Alaskan vacation I went on I made Talkeetna my base Talkeetna is known as the Gateway to Denali. I would say take your time and enjoy the magical Alaskan scenery and Talkeetna offers a hell of a lot more than fishing. Talkeetna is one of those hidden gems yes it a bit further to go being around 3 hours by train from Anchorage, you can get a bus and it will take a little over 2 hours to get to Talkeetna, if you have a car you might be able to get there in under 2 hours. There are a few hidden gems that offer fantastic fishing in a more relaxed and peaceful setting. Most folks that come to Alaska to fish each year stay around the Kenai Peninsula and the fishing Mecca that is the Kenai River.Īnd believe me, it gets extremely crowded shoulder to shoulder combat fishing is fun to experience but the ques to get to some fishing spots can take hours, and that’s no fun at all. Talkeetna fishing offers anglers that visit this beautiful Alaskan town a more peaceful and relaxing fishing experience.
